Love Month – Day 25

I love the process of travel.

Not just travel when everything goes well, but the craziness that occurs along the journey.

Sometimes I think I enjoy the surprises most of all.

Those planes that get delayed.

Getting on the wrong subway or failing to know when I’m supposed to go off.

The mapping program that leads to a dead end.

The reservation you made for the wrong day – or they don’t have on the books.

The lost luggage.

The rain or snow or unexpected heatwave. (OK, maybe not the heat).

The people you meet who understand you – and those you don’t.

The door you walk in impulsively that holds an experience you will never forget.

I’m not someone who makes a lot of plans when traveling, and that can create problems. More often than not, though, it creates opportunities. Opportunities to see a place I never would have seen, gain an experience I’ll treasure, or meet someone who reminds me most people are so very kind and want to help.

Oh, catastrophes happen, but more often than not you get through them – and what a great feeling of relief that is.

Invest in those things you love. I’m investing in the process of travel.
