I’ll be honest. I almost didn’t go to The Iredell Arts Council’s Spoken Word performances that they was held Thursday night. I had a few nightmare memories of being trapped and listening to bad poetry about the same length as the Iliad and the Odyssey. (I have always hated both of those, two, no matter if they are “classics”.
But a friend encouraged me to go and I am so glad I did. I have more poets to follow. So many were people of incredible passion whose words are important and should be spoken out loud – and heard.
I wrote about it all in this NewsBreak article, but I’m going to attempt to share a poem video from each of them.
That’s all they’ll let me do now. I’ll try again later. I may have reached my space limit and need to do housecleaning.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I went to our local theatre’s first performance with an audience since Covid. It was at an outdoor amphitheater and it rained! Did that stop the show? Well, for a few minutes, but then they got back to it,
This was a version of the Jungle Book I hadn’t seen. It was interesting. The cast was pretty pumped up, which always makes it fun. But getting back to live theater was great!
