This was to have been the first weekend of the 2020 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Fiesta is the largest balloon festival in the world.
So in a year where the risk of the coronavirus means the cancellation of large events, the event is not happening.
So what do a bunch of balloonists do when their normal journey to Albuquerque is cancelled? They celebrate those essential workers who haven’t skipped a beat doing their jobs.

Balloonists all over the world have flown this weekend to celebrate these essential workers.

Of course our generous balloon community in Statesville, NC were out in full force, They launched on site or near one of our hospitals (thanks G.L. Wilson for your hospitality as a launch location) and then balloonists flew as close as possible to our other local hospital.
They flew all over town, hopefully seen by a lot of folks who have gotten and kept people well and safe, educated our students, fed our community, and done so many other things.

If this is you, thank you. You are appreciated, this year and every year.
