I was taking my mom for a little drive on a Saturday and ended up at Linney’s Mill, just over the Alexander County line from Iredell County.
You don’t see many workimg water mills these days, and it has been a fixture around these parts since 1936. A mill was first built at this location as far back as 1790, though.

I always seem to forget they close at noon on Saturdays, amd we arrived there at 11:55 a.m. Still Juanita Linney gave us a gracious welcome and we were encouraged to stay as long as we wished.
