It was a beautiful day for a hike. The temperatures were in the 40s, the sun was out, ànd my friend was off work and readybto go.
I’ve been incredibly inactive lately, but I love hiking at Lake Norman State Park. It’s close to home, and many paths follow the lake.
It’s well-maintained and well-used, but even though the day we were there more people were here than usual, it’s mostly peaceful. Well, except for what appeared to be three generations of a family singing enthusiastically as they hiked along.
My friend had her beautiful granddog, who pulled her around. Mostly forward, but sometimes backwards. Often off the path!

Here’s an article I wrote for News Break that tells more about the offerings of the park.
All I know is I need more frequent hikes there. Especially at this time of the year. Three miles is a challenge for me at the moment. Epsom salts are a miracle. Hopefully, they won’t be a necessity for a three-mile hike come spring.
