Here’a an article I wrote on News Break about a gorgeous fresco we have in my hometown of Statesville, NC. Fresco isn’t he same technique Michaelangelo used on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
When Ben Long was painting this, I kept going by to watch it’s progress. I only talked to him once for about a minute. Authors and artists – I admire them so much but often just hang back. Anyone else like that? But it was so interesting seeing him and his team at work.
Here are some bonus pictures I took. Some are the signs that give more info about Ben, frescoes, and the making of this particular masterpiece.

We often find ourselves at crossroads. Sometimes we head in the wrong direction and we just have to listen to that GPS and “Recalculate”.
The amount of detail and symbolism in this fresco is astounding! You did an excellent job with conveying this in your blog, and news article. 🙂

Thank you! He has done many others around the state, but I do think this one is special. Still, the others are pretty great, too. My favorites are in a tiny little church in the mountains.
