Well, I Had Good Intentions!

I should have known vacationing in another time zone with family was no time to do a blog marathon. Maybe I can realistically do once a week?

I’m here in Wales and it’s always a good time. Just time hanging out with my cousin Jerry (who graciously allows me to stay with her) is a great time. We catch up on UK TV – news, reality shows, and soaps mostly. Kerry and her daughter Emily are patient filling me in and catching me up.

The weather hasn’t been its finest. There’s been a lot of rain. But so far it hasn’t been too bad and getting a bit wet isn’t that big a deal. I, of course, brought no proper rainwear.

The zipper on my suitcase broke, so I bought a new one. Funnily enough the tag of the one had hot air balloons on it. Anyone who knows me at all usually knows I am a hot air balloon enthusiast, but I didn’t buy it for the tag. It was the lightest of all of them in the range I needed. It’s a tiny bit smaller than the one I had, but seems big enough for all my stuff.

Next Sunday (the 18th) I’ll head to London for a few days before I return home. I’m staying in Soho in the midst of the theater district. My room is supposedly going to be microscopic, but that should be fine. The price is great for that area, as is the location. There are something like five tube stops within a five minute walk, plus theaters all around me. Theater and music at small venues are my primary goals and the women in a Facebook group I’m in have provided lots of suggestions.

Thursday I’ll take the tube to a hotel around Heathrow, for my early morning flight.

Today I am off to hang out with my aunt. Fish and chips are on the agenda, and I believe running errands. She tends to go too much, so I am sure I will be lecturing get like I am her mother. Or maybe my mother.

Last night was spent out with some of Kerry’s friends. They are kind and fun and funny and thoughtful. It’s great to be around them. The restaurant we ate at was fabulous, but I ate far too much. I woke up in the night with a bellyache!

Hoping to see as many people as I can, but not being a planner that may limit things. Still, it’s always a good time. I do love being in Newport, and the UK overall!

Oh, the picture is one I took in the restaurant last night at The Green Restaurant. For the goodies, I had garlic mushrooms with toast, cottage pie, cheesy cauliflower, and chocolate crunch with custard. And a couple of ciders in a pub before (my favorite Kopparberg’s Strawberry Lime). See what I mean about eating too much? I’ll try to keep eating, but perhaps with a bit more moderation.

    1. Wales is beautiful and the people are amazing. When I am here I am very aware that so much of who I am comes is Welsh. My sense of humor is all around me. Plus I love everyone calling me “lovely”. 😉 My aunt and I were talking this morning about me being more Welsh than my mom, who was born here.
