March Exhibit for the Iredell Arts Council – the Work of Charlie and Susan Frye

I’m going to be writing a lot of local stuff for News Break in the future, and with my love of the arts in our community I suspect you’re going to see a lot of content directed towards that.

This News Break article is about the exhibition of husband and wife folk artists Charlie and Susan Frye sponsored by the Iredell Arts Council at their gallery at the Old Jail, downtown Statesville. The Fryes are the proprietors of Folkkeeper Gallery & Antiques in Lenoir, which is now on my list to visit. They show both their own work and the work of other folk artists there.

I’ve become a huge fan of folk art over the years, especially those who use interesting objects as their canvas. I’ve got a piece a Virginia artist painted on a small air filter, and loved seeing what Charlie and Susan used in their work.

Tours for the Statesville exhibit are private, so quite a safe outing in these COVID times. Text Executive Director John Kopplemeyer for an appointment, at 704.880.2101.

This show just goes on until the 30th of the month, so hurry up! I think you’ll love these extras, though it’s nothing like seeing them in person.
